Stablecoin Payments

What you receive

If you chose USDC, USDT0 or RLUSD at onboarding, you are in stablecoin mode. You price your products in your own currency and you are paid in a stablecoin, which holds a steady value of about one US dollar.

• On Stellar you receive USDC or USDT0
• On the XRP Ledger you receive RLUSD

How the amount is worked out

You create a link for, say, NZD 80.00. When your customer opens the payment page, Brykto works out the matching stablecoin amount using the day's exchange rate and locks it in.

Locked means it does not move again. If your customer opens the page today and pays tomorrow, they pay today's amount. You are not exposed to a rate change while they think about it.

Rates come from the European Central Bank and refresh once a day.

Trustlines

Before your wallet can hold USDC, USDT0 or RLUSD, it needs a trustline to that asset. A trustline is your wallet saying "I am willing to receive this". It is a one-time setup and costs a small network fee.

Both wallets handle this from their asset list.

• LOBSTR: open your assets, search for USDC or USDT0, and add it.
• Xaman: open your account, add an asset, and search for RLUSD.

If the steps look different from this, check the wallet's own help center. They change their apps from time to time.

Brykto checks your trustline at step 4 of onboarding. Add it before you get there and that step passes straight away.

Getting the amount right

Brykto accepts a payment that lands within 0.1% of the amount asked for, which covers small rounding differences. Anything further off is not matched automatically. The funds still arrive in your wallet, and you can mark the link as paid to close it off.
