Creating a Payment Link
Create the link
- Open Payment Links in your dashboard.
- Click New payment link.
- Fill in the form.
- Create it, then copy the link and send it to your customer.
What goes in the form
| Field | Required | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Item / Description | Yes | What the customer is paying for. They see this on the payment page |
| Amount | Yes | How much to charge |
| Currency | Yes | The currency you price in |
| Customer name | No | For your own records |
| Customer email | No | For your own records |
| Reference | No | Your own invoice or order number |
The description is the only text your customer reads, so write it for them rather than for your books. "Web design, March" tells them more than "INV-2291" does.
Your reference is for you. It appears in your dashboard and in your CSV export, and never on the payment page.
How long it lasts
A link created in your dashboard can be paid for 7 days. After that it expires, and you can bring it back for another 7 days if you need to.
Sending a lot of invoices
Links are created one at a time. If you invoice in volume, the payment links API can create them straight from your own system.
